60 seconds with Sorana Cirstea, who is in Dallas this week for the Texas Tennis Open:
The actress I would like to play me in a film about my life: This is a tough one. My favourite actress is Kate Winslet, so I would love her to play me. But, then, I like Angelina Jolie, as she’s really sexy. So I wouldn’t mind that either.
If I wasn’t a tennis player I would be: I really liked studying when I was at school so I would like to have gone to university, and enjoyed studying, and then gone on to a career. I’m not sure which area.
I never travel to a tournament without: My hair straighteners. If I don’t have those with me I’m in trouble.
My favourite city on the tour: London or New York. I can’t really decide. I love both of them. I love the shopping, the restaurants, there’s so much to do, it never ends.
The last place I went to on holiday: I spent two weeks in New York and it was actually one of the best holidays ever.
My favourite restaurant on the tour: It has to be Nobu. We have it on a few places on the tour like New York and London.
My favourite shop on the tour: I think, because I’m travelling so much, it’s Net a Porter, which is an online shopping site. I always order from them.
The last film I watched: A Whitney Houston film and a Meryl Streep film. They were both good.
The last album I listened to: I was actually in my hotel room just now listening to James Blunt. I love him. I saw him in concert and it was one of the best concerts ever.
The last meal I cooked: I don’t cook unfortunately. The most I can make is toast.
The last joke I laughed at: I can’t repeat the last one I laughed at. It’s much better to have a smile on your face – life is more enjoyable.
The last time I was recognised: The other day in Dallas. I’m happy to pose for pictures.
The last time I broke a racket. I’ve broken three rackets in my life, and the last one was just a few days ago. The first two I broke accidentally – I would usually rather scream or something than break a racket. But the other day, I lost it a little bit and broke the first racket of my career.
Grass, hard or clay? Hard.
Sand or snow? I used to say sand, but I’m always travelling to hot places, I really enjoy snow. I spent some of the last winter at home and it was just amazing with the snow and everything.
Which superpower would I choose – to be invisible or fly? I would love to be invisible. You can just sneak around. You can go to all the cool places you want to and no one is going to see you. Sometimes it’s good to be invisible.
If I was in a karaoke bar, the song I would sing: Oh my god, I can’t sing. But I was singing something in my room last night and I was thinking, ‘maybe this doesn’t sound so bad’. It was called ‘Jealousy’ or something so I would choose that.
If I won the lottery I would spend the money on: You want to enjoy the money a little bit, you want to give presents to the people around you, and you want to help a little bit. All sort of things.
