Who is the Greatest? Laver v Agassi

   

Readers of The Tennis Space have the opportunity to vote on who they believe to be the greatest male tennis player of all time. In the second of the semi-finals, Rod Laver plays Andre Agassi, with the winner to go through to play Roger Federer. This semi-final will finish at 5.30pm (London time) on Friday. NOTE: this is now closed with Laver going through with 62 per cent of the vote.

We selected eight greats to play in the quarter-finals of Who is The Greatest? In alphabetical order, they are: Agassi, Borg, Djokovic, Federer, Laver, McEnroe, Nadal, Sampras. What happened in the quarter-finals.

Rafael Nadal v Pete Sampras – Nadal went through into the next round, with 56 per cent of the vote.

John McEnroe v Roger Federer Federer went through into the next round, with 90 per cent of the vote.

Bjorn Borg v Rod Laver Laver went through into the next round, with 63 per cent of the vote.

Andre Agassi v Novak Djokovic Agassi went through into the next round, with 66 per cent of the vote.

In the first semi-final, Roger Federer ‘beat’ Rafael Nadal with 89 per cent of the vote.

Readers can vote in the poll on the right-hand side of this page and all other pages on The Tennis Space. The player with the greater percentage of votes will go through to the next round, to the final.

    Taking into consideration the differences in equipment, opponents, and overall physicality of the game, I would say that Andre Agassi was the better “player”. ┬áBut then again, Rod Laver did accomplish some pretty lofty milestones that will probably still be around long after all of us are dust.
