Janko Tipsarevic: my Miami travel tips

Janko Tipsarevic, the world number nine and a columnist for The Tennis Space, DJ’d with Bob Sinclair at the players’ party in Miami this week. Tipsarevic shares a couple of tips about where to go in his “favourite city outside Belgrade”.

“I love being in Miami. When the tournament is finished, I’m probably going to stay there for a couple of days. First of all because the energy the city has at that part of the year is amazing. Then because of the Miami Music Conference. I am a big DJ junkie and I love listening to electronic music, mainly House. I hope I will be able to catch one of my favourite performers live. I love going there. Before the US Open last year, actually, I went there to recharge some batteries for four or five days and then I performed really well at the US Open.

“My favourite club there is Set. For food, it depends. In a way it’s tricky because South Beach is a place where all the action is, where I am originally staying all the time, but in a way, we are going for tennis so you need your time, you need a quiet place, not a party. You need a balance, you don’t need a place where there are a lot of drunk and noisy people so you can’t sleep at night. But I love going to Prime One Twelve – it’s a steak house and one of the best restaurants. It’s on South Beach.”
